B L O T T

Of Dunn Township, Haldimand County, Ontario, Canada
This information has been gathered while researching my Bate, Crawford and allied families in the area. It comes from 1851 - 1891 Census; records of St Johns Church, S. Cayuga, including parish registers and information from tombstones; Ontario Civil Records Indexes of Birth, Marriage and Death. Some of the birth years have been estimated from census.

William BLOTT, was born about 1801, a native of Southoe, Huntingdonshire, Eng. He died 19 Dec 1861 in his 61st year. He was married to Alice McGREGOR, 28 Feb 1839 by Rev. Bold Cudmore HILL at ‘Grand River’ U.C. She was born about 1806 in Invernesshire, Scotland, daughter of the late Col. George McGREGOR of her Majesties 52nd Regt of Foot C.B. She died 24 June 1898 in her 92nd year of age.

  William R.J. BLOTT, born 18 May 1840, Can. W; died at Wardsville, Middlesex Co, 28 Feb 1928. He married Elizabeth (?) 12 Feb 1874 at St Johns Church. She was born about 1846; died 4 Mar 1881, age 35, at Mosa Twp, Middlesex Co. They are both buried in St Johns Cemetery.

John McGregor BLOTT, born about 1844, Can. W; died 23 Apr 1899, Dunn Twp; in 55th year; buried 25 Apr 1899 at St Johns Cemetery. He married Ellen Thornton BATE (Nellie) 8 Jan 1878 at St Johns Church. She was born 27 Jun 1852 in Dunn Twp, daughter of Albert BATE and Emma HEARLE. She died 24 Feb 1933, age 80, in Dunn Twp; buried at St Johns Cemetery.

George Mcgregor BLOTT, born 4 Feb 1880; died 7 Apr 1918. He married Ellen E RAMSEY, 23 Aug 1899. She was born 1876, died 1946. One daughter: Hazel BLOTT,, married A. H. MOORE. There were no children.
William Henry BLOTT, (Harry), born 19 Apr 1882, Dunn Twp. He married Beatrice McLAGAN. They lived in Leader, Sask. They had four sons, two daughters.
Herbert Thornton BLOTT, born 7 Nov 1886; died 1983. He lived in Winnipeg
Clara BLOTT, born 20 Apr 1885; died 5 Jan 1943. She married Harold Maxwell BATE. 4 Dec 1918. He was son of James Borlase BATE and Mary CRAWFORD. There were no children

Thomas BLOTT, born July 1848 in Dunn Twp; died Jul 1923; . Married Annie M.M. DOCKER (Daisy), 14 June 1882, at S. Cayuga. She was born Jan 1854; died Mar 1951. They are both buried in St Johns Cemetery.
