CRAWFORD FAMILY LETTERS

which was very easy to read, but did have to correct some errors made because of reading the original book, and because she was not familiar with family names, etc. The case mentioned is an old portable writing desk, I think they are called, and probably belonged to J.G.F. Crawford originally. There are some more letters, I only got the one copied, which is the first letter. As to James U Crawford being born in Ann Hathaway’s cottage - not true. He was born in Preston, Lancashire. I have read the Parish Register, and copied the entry
I don’t know why Mary was confused about the Journals, as I explained them to her. I visited her in
Wainfleet in the fall of 1985, and again in 1989, when she was in a home in Cambridge, Ont. The Journals are daily journals of events on the farm, Brookside, and notes about various people, written between 1863 & 1900.
I find Mary’s comments interesting, or maby amusing! They are not always accurate.
