| which was very easy to read, but did have to correct
some errors made because of reading the original book, and because
she was not familiar with family names, etc. The case mentioned is
an old portable writing desk, I think they are called, and probably
belonged to J.G.F. Crawford originally. There are some more letters,
I only got the one copied, which is the first letter. As to James
U Crawford being born in Ann Hathaway’s cottage - not true. He was
born in Preston, Lancashire. I have read the Parish Register, and
copied the entry |

I don’t know why Mary was confused about the Journals,
as I explained them to her. I visited her in |
| Wainfleet in the fall of 1985, and again in 1989, when
she was in a home in Cambridge, Ont. The Journals are daily journals
of events on the farm, Brookside, and notes about various people,
written between 1863 & 1900. |

I find Mary’s comments interesting, or maby amusing!
They are not always accurate. |
